Meg Cabot had a big surprise for all the fans who have been hoping for some major news from Genovia regarding The Princess Diaries 3. After many years of waiting and hints that it might be happening, it looks like we’ll finally be making our big return to see our favorite Queen rule.
At BookCon 2026, Meg Cabot gave readers an update at her spotlight panel all about the film, even revealing that some major characters will absolutely be back despite previous reports that they wouldn’t.
“I read the script. There’s a part for everybody because of the thing that happens that everyone has to show up. And Robert Schwartzman is in it. Chris Pine, obviously, is in it. I know we said he’s not, but he is,” she revealed.
We’re going to have to wait and see what actually happened between her and Nicholas after the end of second film, but it looks like they’re still pretty close if he’s back.
The big question of when is still on all our minds and, unfortunately, it’s still a bit up in the air right now. But, obviously, it’s for a very good reason.
“It’s gonna be amazing. I don’t know when they’re gonna film it because Annie Hathaway, as you’ve probably seen, is making a million movies right now. But one of these days, she’s going to go to the castle that we have actually rented and is sitting there waiting.”
With both The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Mother Mary both set to be released just weeks apart from each other, Anne Hathaway is going to be a bit busy for a while longer. Still, it’ll certainly be worth the wait!
